               In case you hadn’t heard through the grapevine, our son Dax Ryan Locke was recently diagnosed with Leukemia (AML, Type M7) which is a cancer of the blood.   He is currently being treated at St. Jude, a non-profit charity hospital in Memphis, TN.  He’s just finished his first round of chemotherapy and the initial results suggest that the chances of the cancer going into remission are good.

Benefit Dinner:  **Benefit Flyer**

There is a benefit fund raiser dinner for Dax & St. Jude on Sat, Sep 20^th at Kep’s Sports Bar in Washington, IL  (see the attached flyer for details).  Dinner is served from 4-8pm; and we will be auctioning items that local business have generously donated.  Our current auction list:

Early Raffle:

There is a raffle open right now for 2 Tickets to Cubs vs. Cardinals @ Wrigley Field (with lunch beforehand inside the Stadium Club in the VIP Room).  The Game day is Sat, Sep 20^th, so we’re raffling them ahead of time and drawing a Winner on Sat, Sep 13^th at Kep’s at 7pm.   (2^nd Flyer Attached)  Visit Kep’s Sports Bar in Washington to purchase a raffle ticket. 

Texas Hold-Em Tournament:  ** Updated Flyer **

Volleyball Tournament: Diggin’ For Dax

The good people in the Quad cities are generously throwing a volleyball tournament with the proceeds going to Dax:

September 20th was originally on the QCVolleyball schedule as the date for the 1st Quad Cities Championship Tournament. Sometimes events take place that shift priorities and that is the case here. The Quad Cities Championship has been replaced by the Diggin For Dax charity volleyball tournament. All of the proceeds from this event will be forwarded to the Locke family to help offset some of the medical expenses. More details about the tournament itself are listed under the Tournaments section of this newsletter.

13 month old Dax Locke was disgnosed on July 30th, 2008 with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Dax is the son of Julie and Austin Locke of Peoria. Many of you know Austin from various volleyball events throughout the Midwest. QCVolleyball has set up a form you can use if you would like to make a donationYou may also make a donation in person at the Diggin For Dax tournament on September 20th.
